ABOUT SIZE:  In all honesty I do not guarantee size, but will do my best to estimate. 

My reasoning on size is best described by giving you this example. Have you ever meet 2 human siblings, that are adult, with the exact same parents, and one is almost a foot taller than the other. Well, that is one of the things making it impossible for anyone to honestly guarantee a size  when they are infants. 

That said I do feel the estimates to be fairly accurate since the current litter is from my 2 smallest adults. Dad is four pounds exactly and mom is five pounds 6 ounces.

Why 12 weeks old or older for placement? Because 12 week is the best time for going to their new home and they have had the majority of their shot giving them the best chances for a healthy transition. Maltese mature slower than many breeds such as a lab that has a full set of teeth at 6 to 8 weeks. Some maltese can take as long as 4 months or longer for all their teeth to come in. The puppies below are from a previous litter, have the exact same mom and dad with many champions in the line. The puppy in the top photo, below this typing was exactly 3 pounds at 7 months old and her sister below was at about 4 and 3/4 pounds. The pedigree of the mom and dad to the newborns is also shown below.
